ABOUT FASHION FORWARD

Who?

Fashion Forward was started via the Queer-Straight Alliance at Swarthmore College, but is now an independent club that meets explicitly to plan the annual event. We rely entirely on our fantastic donors - thank you!

What?

Fashion Forward is an annual fashion show and silent auction designed to raise funds and awareness for the Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization focused on crisis intervention and suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ youth. Every day, The Trevor Project saves young lives through its free and confidential lifeline, in-school workshops, educational materials, online resources and advocacy. For more information, visit www.TheTrevorProject.org.

Why?

After the suicides of Tyler Clementi and Jamey Rodemeyer, the Swarthmore Queer community was brought to action. Fashion Forward was conceived in response to the tragedies of their deaths and the elevated suicide risk of LGBTQ youth worldwide, as a way of saving lives in style.

When?

In the 2012-2013 academic year, Fashion Forward will take place the evening of April 12th at 7:00 PM. There will be a cocktail pre-party beginning at 6:30 and an afterparty from 10:00-2:00.
